School of Law Raises the Bar with its Digital Presence
Precise strategy drives meaningful content and engaging design to help a law school connect with prospects
The prestigious SMU Dedman School of Law trains prominent lawyers in both law and business. SMU Dedman came to Imaginuity to help them remain competitive in bringing prospective students to their school. SMU Dedman wanted a new site that would showcase their strengths, highlight their impact and enable them to stand apart from other law schools.
Before a single line of code was written, Imaginuity provided the necessary research and strategic insight to determine the greatest opportunities for SMU Dedman. Only then did Imaginuity create a bold, dynamic site that aligned with the strategy and focused on the mission of the school.

After a series of stakeholder interviews, Imaginuity helped SMU Dedman identify its target audience — prospective students, current students, alumni, and faculty — and how to best engage these users in an effective manner. The key was to focus on professors who inspired students as well as highlighting the real world experience law students would receive at SMU Dedman. We also evaluated areas beyond the site where their message could be heard, such as various social media channels.
The dean of SMU Dedman challenged Imaginuity to push the envelope with the concepts we presented for the website. Our creative team was able to evaluate the competition and find a voice that pushed SMU Dedman to the forefront. Our creative team created a site unlike any other law school — warm, engaging, and completely geared toward a student’s needs.
With the content management system we helped implement, the SMU Dedman faculty can now easily make updates to keep the site current and fresh, and the site also seamlessly integrates their social feeds.
Our account manager worked closely with SMU Dedman throughout the project. She met with the school’s Director of External Relations and Director of Communications & Marketing either by phone or in person several times a week. During these meetings the goals were to ensure both teams were on the same page about the status of the project, work through details specific tasks, and to collaborate on ideas and solutions. Ultimately having this time together allowed for us to own every single part of the project and also really helped build a great business relationship.
The SMU team appreciated our ability to identify and quickly solve problems as they arose, and the attention we gave them. The extra face-to-face interactions helped us know exactly what they wanted and respond directly with the numerous shareholders. In the end, they have a site that reflects their world-class status.
