Imaginuity Interactive Welcomes New Senior Art Director, Frances Yllana

DALLAS – PRLog — When Imaginuity lost Creative Director Marcus Dickerson to a sudden heart attack August 9, 2014, the team- in totality- was left heartbroken and reeling. But for Frances Yllana, at work at another local agency, she’d lost her most treasured mentor, a friend and teacher who had cut a wide path to pave the way for her first professional opportunities and growth.

We warmly welcome Frances to our Imaginuity family.

Our newest addition to the Imaginuity Creative team sits dedicated to her work, at Marcus’ desk, in his chair. In many ways transcending the literal, it is a moment of renewal, honor and new beginnings. We’re looking for great things from Frances, and she’s inspired by the challenge.

Frances Yllana was a Communication Design student in the School of Visual Arts at the University of North Texas, and her instructor was Marcus Dickerson in the spring of 1999. In the fall of 2001, Marcus was promoted to Creative Director at a well-known and established design and advertising firm in Dallas, and his first hire was Frances. Her career grew, and with it her well-recognized creative chops. When he left that firm 5 years later, she was promoted to fill his place, but he continued to mentor her and encourage her to pursue her growing interests. With his guidance, she discovered her love of teaching, as he had. With roles as adjunct and full time teaching at UTA and now currently adjunct at UNT herself, his message of giving back and perpetual learning was clearly received and lives on.

After working with Marcus, Frances continued her successful career trajectory at other print, traditional and digital agencies; expanding her skills, testing her own mentoring and teaching acumen, and sharpening her strong creative and strategic capabilities. Currently she is heavily involved in non-profit organizations and is the President of AIGA DFW. As part of her contribution to the organization’s programming, the Seasoned Pro’s Speaker Series celebrates the legacies of the DFW’s design pioneers, and its successful reception among designers young and old, has carried into its third season.

Tim Langford, Executive Creative Director at Imaginuity reflects on the addition of Frances to the team. “Frances has had an immediate impact. She’s bringing some fresh thinking and astute design sensibilities to the table, and is the type of creative any agency needs to stay current. I assumed her career experience with Marcus would make her an ideal fit here, and her first day at the office confirmed my assumption was correct. I would say we’re expecting great things from Frances, but she’s already delivering on those expectations.”

For her part, Frances is an avid learner, producer, artist and notable in the creative community. “It was a decision without a moments’ hesitation to join Tim Langford and the team at Imaginuity” she shared. “I’m excited to learn from Tim, to grow in this space, and create inspiring work. There’s a connection and level of trust within the creative team that’s both refreshing and motivating. I know I’ll be able to both grow and give back here. I feel at home.”
