Wade Owens Named Imaginuity Chief Financial Officer

Imaginuity advisor makes executive CFO role official, and brings over 20 years of financial industry expertise to the firm.

DALLAS, August 22, 2016 /PRLog/ — Local full service marketing agency and consultancy Imaginuity announced today that Wade Owens has joined the company executive leadership team as CFO. Wade comes to Imaginuity with over 20 year of experience working in the credit, investment and capital markets sectors of the financial service industry. Perhaps most importantly, Owens structured the financial transaction that allowed for the current executive leadership team to buy the firm 13 years ago and has been a close advisor to the company ever since.

During the announcement, Imaginuity President and CEO Corbett Guest added, “Wade Owens has been a guiding hand on our financial path as an independent agency in Texas. As we look to continue to grow and expand, his addition to our executive leadership team as CFO was a natural decision.”

Owens rounds out the leadership team at Imaginuity, bringing a breadth and depth of experience in capital markets, transaction structuring and complex financial management. His pragmatic approach has been honed over the course of a successful 20-year career in private-wealth management, commercial banking and community leadership.

Wade holds a BA from the University of Arizona in Tucson and an MBA from the University of Dallas. In addition, he holds several certifications and licenses, including graduating from the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at SMU.

Moving out of the finance industry, and into a client-side CFO role, has been an intriguing consideration for Owens for many years. “I’ve been waiting for the right fit, at the right time in my career,” he explained. “Having an advisory role in the success of Imaginuity for over 13 years gives me first-hand experience with the firm’s solid foundation of leadership. It also has provided a birds-eye view into their operations and vision. New Imaginuity Executive Charts Course for Future

DALLAS – PRLog — John Lacy sails. Not just in a casual sense, but as an experienced charter captain for sailboats in the Caribbean. It’s his way of relaxing. The beauty of the open water belies the complicated nature of the sport and danger of a single mistake. Navigation, sail configuration, communication, even approaching weather errors can be lethal on the open ocean. Indeed, there’s a lot to manage on the way to success.

The parallels to business are remarkable, and are hallmarks of Lacy’s success. The first of which is, to know and have confidence in your capabilities. The second, to be in the boat with the best crew. Third, to map and execute the route to success flawlessly against your competition. That brings us to the story of John, and why he chose to join the organization.

John knows Imaginuity, its capabilities and team well. For years there has been a relationship between Lacy and the Imaginuity leadership team. Twice a client of Imaginuity while in leadership roles at previous organizations, Lacy has been impressed with the results. “We selected Imaginuity as our partner to deliver the first online catalog for Walls Industries,” explained Lacy. “ When it was time to re-brand a product line at Tandy Brands, we chose Imaginuity. We had confidence in their ability to design and produce exactly what was needed.”

Long before he graduated from UT with his MIS degree, he was destined to be involved in both business and technology. Raised in Silicon Valley, CA., Woodstock, NY., and eventually Austin, TX., he took his first programming class in 6th grade. He was hooked, and spent countless hours on his Commodore PET and asking about the details of his father’s’ job at IBM.

His career has traversed consulting, both at Arthur Andersen and on his own; operations at start-ups in healthcare and internet industries, and most recently in consumer products and manufacturing. His expertise well-honed in operations and technology.

“Even though operations and technology is my background,” he explained, “I recognize it’s the team that matters most. When it came time to either sell or close the factory of a previous company, my goal and mission became to find a buyer for that facility and its employees. The long nights and negotiations paid off, and every employee found a home with the buyer. That’s satisfying.” His most recent experience includes P&L responsibility for a manufacturing operation in the Dominican Republic where he was responsible for introducing new manufacturing techniques and optimizing operations.

Now solidly back in Texas, his first stop after greeting the team at Imaginuity was a visit to something decidedly Texan. “I made a point to grab fajitas and a margarita with friends,” he shared. “I’m glad to be home, and even happier to be a part of Imaginuity.” Previously active with the non-profit Launchability, he’s looking forward to becoming involved in the community once again.

As the newest Partner on their executive team, Lacy is poised for success on a brand new horizon with Imaginuity.

DALLAS – PRLog — Understanding John Lee’s roots, history and interests sheds some light on what makes him unique in his new role as Director of Digital Marketing at Imaginuity Interactive.

So, where does he come from? His roots in Dallas, comes by way of Connecticut, Tokyo, Toronto and London. He explained, “My father was a reporter and editor for The New York Times for 37 years and his work took us all over the world as I grew up. As the son of a newspaper editor I’ve developed an eye for copy-style and an appreciation of the power of voice in messaging.”

His interests range from a commitment to Enterprise 2.0 as a philosophy, to being an advocate for businesses that employ social consumerism. Relating to the first, “I’m a proponent of a concept known as Enterprise 2.0 (using social technologies throughout the organization not just externally), particularly as it relates to business process improvement. When I was Director of Social Media at a national casual-dining brand, I had the opportunity to develop a gamified app for our restaurant servers to enhance their learning. It was a huge success and has the potential to revolutionize the way the brand rolls out training. All business is social not just relationships with customers. The brands that have embraced this idea and adopted new social approaches to their business are well on their way to establishing considerable competitive advantage. “

Explaining his second interest, “I am a founding member of the Dallas Chapter of Conscious Capitalism. John’s history lends client-side chops to an agency-strong and entrepreneurial background.

Throughout his 30 years in Dallas, he’s worked at a handful of different advertising agencies, a public relations firm, led marketing for a dotcom in the late 90s, owned a social media consultancy and directed social media on the client-side for a 170 unit restaurant brand. Combining both agency and client side marketing allows him to craft highly integrated, insight driven digital marketing strategies that impact organizations in measurable, meaningful and exciting ways.

Goodis brings with him more than 15 years of industry experience spanning business development, client services, account management, content development and creative expertise.

“I felt at home at Imaginuity from the minute I shook Gary Hooker’s (one of the firm’s partners) hand as I walked into the office for my interview, and I have admired their work for years” Goodis said when asked about his decision to join Imaginuity. “Some of the most respected people I’ve worked with in previous roles are part of the current Imaginuity team, and the creative, collaborative environment was instantly welcoming. When he’s not creating sales presentations in Chicago Manual Style, you can catch him pursuing his long-standing passion for golf. While he has played many rounds all around the Metroplex over the past 13 years, Bridlewood Golf Club in Flower Mound, TX and the historic Stevens Park course in Oak Cliff remain two of his perennial favorites. Annually, he hits the links playing in the Magdalen House Golf Tournament in support of that organization’s mission.

2014 MarCom Announcement Brings Multiple Awards for Imaginuity Clients

Imaginuity Interactive Welcomes New Senior Art Director, Frances Yllana

DALLAS – PRLog — When Imaginuity lost Creative Director Marcus Dickerson to a sudden heart attack August 9, 2014, the team- in totality- was left heartbroken and reeling. But for Frances Yllana, at work at another local agency, she’d lost her most treasured mentor, a friend and teacher who had cut a wide path to pave the way for her first professional opportunities and growth.

We warmly welcome Frances to our Imaginuity family.

Our newest addition to the Imaginuity Creative team sits dedicated to her work, at Marcus’ desk, in his chair. In many ways transcending the literal, it is a moment of renewal, honor and new beginnings. We’re looking for great things from Frances, and she’s inspired by the challenge.

Frances Yllana was a Communication Design student in the School of Visual Arts at the University of North Texas, and her instructor was Marcus Dickerson in the spring of 1999. In the fall of 2001, Marcus was promoted to Creative Director at a well-known and established design and advertising firm in Dallas, and his first hire was Frances. Her career grew, and with it her well-recognized creative chops. When he left that firm 5 years later, she was promoted to fill his place, but he continued to mentor her and encourage her to pursue her growing interests. With his guidance, she discovered her love of teaching, as he had. With roles as adjunct and full time teaching at UTA and now currently adjunct at UNT herself, his message of giving back and perpetual learning was clearly received and lives on.

After working with Marcus, Frances continued her successful career trajectory at other print, traditional and digital agencies; expanding her skills, testing her own mentoring and teaching acumen, and sharpening her strong creative and strategic capabilities. Currently she is heavily involved in non-profit organizations and is the President of AIGA DFW. As part of her contribution to the organization’s programming, the Seasoned Pro’s Speaker Series celebrates the legacies of the DFW’s design pioneers, and its successful reception among designers young and old, has carried into its third season.

Tim Langford, Executive Creative Director at Imaginuity reflects on the addition of Frances to the team. “Frances has had an immediate impact. She’s bringing some fresh thinking and astute design sensibilities to the table, and is the type of creative any agency needs to stay current. I assumed her career experience with Marcus would make her an ideal fit here, and her first day at the office confirmed my assumption was correct. I would say we’re expecting great things from Frances, but she’s already delivering on those expectations.”

For her part, Frances is an avid learner, producer, artist and notable in the creative community. “It was a decision without a moments’ hesitation to join Tim Langford and the team at Imaginuity” she shared. “I’m excited to learn from Tim, to grow in this space, and create inspiring work. Produced by the Web Marketing Association, IAC Awards recognize online advertising excellence in a wide variety of industry categories. Imaginuity Interactive entered their work for client Babe’s Chicken Dinner House (“Babe’s”) in the competition’s restaurant category. Back in Q4 of 2012, Babe’s engaged Imaginuity Interactive to design their website. “Translating the local feel of our restaurants while articulating the culture, values and experience of Babe’s were top priorities for Tiffany, Joel and me,” said Paul Vinyard, Babe’s owner and founder. “The Babe’s brand and culture is sacred to us. We’re a family-run business and wanted an agency that honored our traditions. Everything we do in our restaurants is hand-made and designed to anticipate the needs to our guests. We create a fun, wholesome experience that brings our customers back. We wanted a website that replicated that experience.” In summing up the collaboration, Vinyard commented, “We launched the new site in February, 2013. The Babe’s Chicken Dinner House website articulates the custom feel of their brand. Secondly, we wanted easy-to-use navigation with one-click access to the most sought-after information and transactions. Continuing a 12-year working relationship, the City of University Park chose Dallas-based interactive agency Imaginuity to create the new site.
